Man caves have become a bit of a staple in the modern home; let’s face it, we all need a space where we can relax, unwind, and enjoy ourselves. They’re also areas where we can display and feature all of our favorite things, meaning that no two man caves are exactly alike – they’re all highly personalized. One aspect of this customization is paint color; the right shade can do a lot to make it truly feel like your own. If it’s time to paint your man cave and you’re stumped as to which color to go with, here are five ideas to consider!

1. Navy Blue

Navy tends to be a safe bet for man caves, basements, game rooms, and other similar spaces because it goes well with all kinds of décor, including sports memorabilia, movie posters, framed art, and more. Few colors also exude the same strength and serenity the way that navy does, and thanks to its inherent versatility, it’s hardly ever going to feel overwhelming or underwhelming. You can feature it prominently in your man cave or use it to enhance and bring out other colors; it tends to work well with shades of brown and white.

2. White

There’s a reason that white has been used in interior design for centuries – it works well with just about every other possible color. It also comes in numerous different tones, so if classic white is too stark for you, you have several warmer options including cream, beige, and more. It does show smudges and scuffs, though, so if you’re planning on hosting guests frequently, you’ll probably want to go with an off-white tone.

3. Charcoal Gray

Gray is very trendy these days, and few shades are as popular as charcoal. It can provide you with quite a strong foundation for adding décor and other stylistic elements and works very well with various other colors, especially white. If you want to go even darker than charcoal, you might also consider black, which is great for those spaces that are being utilized for television and entertainment.

4. Rustic Brown

Keep in mind that with brown, there are numerous different shades; however, the rustic ones tend to work quite well for man caves since they channel outdoorsy vibes, reminiscent of a log cabin or hunting lodge. Dark shades such as espresso or mocha work well here, as do lighter shades like sandbar and tan. Throw in some old-school furniture and leather pieces for a truly vintage look that’s also remarkably comfortable.

5. Your Favorite Color

Your man cave is your sanctuary – a place where you can kick back and relax, alone or with your friends while watching the game, enjoying a beverage, and passing the time with your other favorite hobbies. This is reason enough to make it a customized space with all the things you love, including your favorite color. Whether it’s the blue and silver shades of your favorite football team or the bright reds and whites of your beloved baseball club, deck out your man cave with some of your favorite colors to truly make the most of your space. Whatever the color may be, there’s definitely going to be a version of it that comes in a paint can!
